Happy Saturday, friends!
After spending the last few weeks preparing for speaking engagements, it was nice to get back to my normal rhythms and routines. The twins’ 2nd birthday is tomorrow, and my parents are coming into town today, so I’ve been preparing for that while slowly getting back into my writing routine. I shared more about that in this week’s post.
This is Too Much
The kids are finally down for the night. Bedtime always feels like a well-earned victory. I say my final goodnights and I love yous as I close my son's door, walk down the hallway to my room, and flop on my bed. After another long, hard-fought day of solo parenting, I just need a few moments to decompress. There are a few toy stragglers left on the livi…
Other than that, I don’t have much to share this week. It’s been a pretty mundane and ordinary week as I’ve been catching up with housework and preparing for the twins’ birthday and my parents’ arrival. I’ve been really enjoying sharing these weekly (Joy)Caps, as the practice forces me to stop, seek joy, cultivate gratitude, and notice God at work even in the most mundane moments.
What brought you joy this week? Share with us in this weekend thread!
Now, onto this week’s (Joy)Cap ☺️✨
What Brought Me Joy ✨
Celebrating my best friend’s birthday. Due to my husband’s work schedule, I rarely get time to hang with friends on the weekends. However, it was my best friend’s birthday, and I just had to treat her on her birthday for all she is and everything she does for our family. We went to Pêche in Peachtree Corners for lunch, and the food was amazing especially this croissant loaf. 🤌🏾
2. Picking up my library holds. Since reading Sophie Cousen’s Before I Do, I’ve been voraciously going through her backlist in anticipation of her new release. I placed a hold on The Good Part last month, and it was finally available this week. My spring read-alouds for the kids were ready for pickup as well. Here are a few we read this week.
3. Springtime patio reading. On that note, I’ve been really enjoying reading on the patio during a portion of the kid’s naptime. The summer heat is pretty unbearable here in Georgia, so I plan to soak up as much time reading outside before it gets too hot.

I finished This Time Next Year by Sophie Cousens and started The Good Part this week. I also started listening to Maybe In Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid while still making my way through Purposefooled by Kelly Needham.

I am completely in my bookish era if you haven’t figured it out by now. I stumbled across this podcast last week on Apple Podcasts and have been bingeing all the episodes ever since. The podcast is hosted by Annie Jones owner of the Bookshelf bookstore in Thomasville, Georgia. I love these conversations with her mom sharing wholesome, clean book recs and with her staff on books, small business, and southern living.
Fave Substack Reads of the Week 💻
I am admittedly behind on all things concerning Easter for the kids 🤦🏾♀️. The twins’ birthday and my parents’ arrival have completely monopolized all of my focus and attention. If you’re slacking in the Easter department too, here are some posts by
and with the perfect Easter and spring recs for last-minute inspiration.
