Happy Friday, friends!
I went into this week laser-focused on potty training my baby boy — so laser-focused that I forgot about the eclipse 🥴. Funny story — I went outside that day during the last 30ish minutes of the kids’ naptime to eat my salad and get in a few pages of reading in. I sat out there for 15 minutes, eating and looking at the trees. It wasn’t until it got noticeably dark and the temp dropped out of nowhere that I realized what was happening and ran back inside 🤣. Thank God I didn’t look up!
Potty training has been monopolizing all of my time and attention this week. We’ve spent the last week confined downstairs on potty watch, so I have a lot of catching up to do over the next week. I was able to sneak in a little bit of work and reading here and there, but other than that, this week has been pretty uneventful.
Yesterday my husband was off so, I had a chance to sneak out of the house and grab our weekly household order from Target. I ended up picking up this journal to dive deeper into Bible study and prayer. I’ve been going through
’s Bible reading plan this year. Typically, I will listen to the day’s reading while making my morning coffee and then write down my reflection within the book. However, I’ve been looking for a devotional to supplement my morning quiet time. If you have any good recommendations, leave me a comment or send me a message! While this week was a little stressful, I was grateful for the moments I had to slow down and savor time with the kids. With every milestone they hit, I realize how quickly time goes, and even though the little years are hard, I want to cherish every fleeting moment.

What Brought Me Joy ✨
Going through our library reads. While my mom was in town, we visited a nearby in a neighboring town and picked up a giant stack of books, one of them being this Good Night, Little Bookstore1 book. It reads similar to Good Night, Moon, and I love the diversity reflected in the illustration. I went ahead and added it to my Amazon cart so it can be a permanent part of our collection.
My nightly wind down routine. There is nothing like lighting a candle, making a cup of tea, and reading a good book at the end of a long day. I’ve become a tea girlie over the last year, and like my morning coffee, it has become a grounding ritual at the end of a long and full day.
Currently Reading 📚
I had high hopes for Kate Northrup’s Do Less, but it’s a little too woo-woo for me. Proceed with caution if you decide to give this one a go.
I finished Part of Your World this week, which was pure perfection, and dived right into Yours Truly. I look forward to reading Just for the Summer next and seeing how Abby has interconnected all of the previous characters’ stories. Let me know if you read it yet and if so, what are your thoughts?
I started reading Women of the Word by Jen Wilkin back in 2020, but being in my grad program and pregnant, I never got around to finishing it. This one is always highly recommended. If you want to grow in deeper understanding of the Word and how to approach it, you’ll want to pick this one up.

If you couldn’t tell from my previous (Joy)Caps, I’ve been really enjoying the Joy Filled podcast lately. If the first few months of the year have been hard for you, you’re not alone. In this episode, Jenn candidly shares her own struggles and how we can hope with faith and anticipation, even in hard seasons. My favorite quote from this episode?
“God is in the business of working everything together for His glory and our good, and if it’s not good, He’s not done.”
That will preach! 😩🙌🏾👏🏾

I used to do tea 🍵 at night but my mom bladder couldn't take it. Lol. I have started playing guitar at night again with my kids and I love that. Also more reading at bedtime and spending as much time as I can outside
All I see in this article is that nighttime routine lol! At what point does this happen? When the littles are down, I'm so exhausted, all I want to do is sleep. But I'm seeing mums with littles incorporating night time routines and I would really love to have one as well.
